Tomahawk’s hometown hospital has been a cornerstone of the community since 1893.   On August 1, 2021, the facility entered a new chapter in its history by becoming part of Aspirus, a non-profit, community-directed health system based in Wausau.  Aspirus has been recognized by IBM Watson Health as a Top 15 Health System for four consecutive years in its annual studies identifying the top-performing health systems in the country. Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital shares in that tradition of excellence as it was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in 2021 by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.  Located at 401 West Mohawk Drive, Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient hospital services with a 24/7 Emergency Department and a full complement of imaging, laboratory, and rehabilitation services. The on-site Aspirus Tomahawk Clinic provides access to primary and specialty care doctors for people with chronic and acute medical needs.  Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital also has a non-profit Foundation with a mission to enhance health care services in the Tomahawk community. Through the generous support of individuals and businesses, the Foundation has made a positive impact on the general health and wellness of Tomahawk. This includes health education scholarships, community health screenings, wellness, educational programs, and more.
